The lion's heads are hand-applied to the outside of the tureen, not pressed in by machine so that the inside of the tureen is solid, smooth and easy to clean. This 1 1/2 cup Lion's Head Tureen lid is just a little smaller than its lidded cousin. Use it for individual servings of soup or chili. Or freeze individual portions and then put them in the microwave or oven to heat up. Pillivuyt porcelain is microwave and oven-safe, even for broiling, can go directly from freezer to oven and has an impenetrable glaze that will not craze and is hygienic and easy to clean.
