Vietri (pronounced Vee-ay-tree) is an American importer of Italian handcrafted tableware. Founded 25 years ago by the Gravely sisters Fraces and Susan with their mother--after becoming enchanted by the colorful ceramics they discovered on a tour of Southern Italy--it has since become one of the most successful importers of Italian handscrafted ceramics, glassware, flatware and table linens in the States. Beginning with a manufacturer in the small Italian fishing village Vietri sul Mare near the Amalfi coast, they now work with more than 30 manufacturers scattered across Italy. the name is a play on "tre vite"--Italian for "three lives." The VIETRI brand combines the richness of european culture with a sophisticated American spirit. Fashion forward, yet classic, italian home accessories are designed to complement the good life and celebrate Italy and all that in encompasses--a love of life, people, nature, and simply good living. Families of artisans handcraft many of VIETRI's products with 3 or 4 generations of history, using centuries-old techniques. the subtle color from a paintbrush and the curving stroke of the artist's hand are never repeated in quite the same way, making ieach VOIETRI piece truly unique.
