We carry the exquisite true lavender products of Le Chateau du Bois lavender farm in Provence. Awarded first place by the French government in its a.o.c. (appellation d'origin controllée) competition, this lavender is grown from seed rather than from cuttings. This means that instead of each plant having identical DNA, the entire field consists of plants carrying the full array of DNA available in the species, thus ensuring the greatest retention of healing compounds for which lavender is famous. This is a time-consuming labor of love: it takes ten years from planting to harvest. The result, however, is that the essential oil that forms the basis of Le Chateau du Bois lavender body care products carries all the healing compounds, including the natural disinfectant, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, soothing qualities of true lavender (lavandula vera or lavandula angustifolia).
