Cware InstructionsStory

Italian maiolica is foodsafe serveware but may not be used for cooking. It may be washed in a dishwasher; we recommend using an energy-saver or low-heat dry cycle to avoid drastic changes in temperature. When storing mugs in a cupboard against an outside wall, we recommend you swish warm tap water in them before pouring boiling water directly into the cup; or put a spoon in the cup to absorb the heat. Crazing of the outer glaze sometimes occurs over time; this does not affect the foodsafe quality of the maiolica.

Ricco Deruta is a Renaissance scroll pattern derived from early Roman designs that are 2000 years old. Maiolica masters in Deruta have been painting it since the 1500's. Ours features the familiar scroll pattern in blue, yellow and rust against a brilliant white background. It is a classic in every sense of the word.

Display your baking triumphs on this Ricco Deruta Pedestal Cake Plate. It has a rim to prevent crumbs from falling off and grooves to help with equal slicing. The Ricco Deruta pattern is the classic Deruta Renaissance pattern, resurrecting a stylized wheat-shaft and scroll pattern used by early Romans in cobalt, green and rust against a pristine white background with cheery yellow borders. Food- and dishwasher safe (low-heat or energy-saver dry cycle works best). Made in Italy.
