La Verrerie de Biot engraves each of its famous bubble glasses with its indelible signature. Each piece is entirely hand-made and unique. 18th century gentlemen glassmakers settled in the South of France because of the pine forests in the area. They produced objects for everyday life: oil lamps, small bottles, glass pestles to pound garlic for the provençal dishes. Out of this folk art came the artform that we now recognize in each piece of Biot glass. The "soul" of Biot is in its bubbles.
