Cware InstructionsStory

Italian maiolica is foodsafe serveware but may not be used for cooking. It may be washed in a dishwasher; we recommend using an energy-saver or low-heat dry cycle to avoid drastic changes in temperature. When storing mugs in a cupboard against an outside wall, we recommend you swish warm tap water in them before pouring boiling water directly into the cup; or put a spoon in the cup to absorb the heat. Crazing of the outer glaze sometimes occurs over time; this does not affect the foodsafe quality of the maiolica.

Vecchia Deruta ("old Deruta") is a 1500's scroll pattern in blues, rusts and aqua on a pristine white background. A popular design since the 1500's, each piece is painstakingly hand-painted in Italy. Ours features a contured edge on the dinnerware pieces.
