The silver content on each piece (42 microns of pure silver, equating to 100 grams of silver per set) is guaranteed by French law and evidence by the square stamp imprinted on each piece. this contrasts with the 3-5 microns commonly found on much silverplating from Asia and the U.S. Chambly uses high grade nickel silver--an alloy of nickel and copper--fopr the base of it s silverplate. sometimes called"white metal because of the 12% nickel content that makes it appear white, this metal is safe if de-plated, has an affinity for silver bonding, and has the weight, feel and consistency of real sterling.
